Burger Singh to increase headcount to 600 people this year

Quick service restaurant startup Burger Singh is planning to treble its headcount to more than 600 in 2019. This is part of a plan to increase the number of outlets to 46 from 26.

“We are planning to hire about 430 employees before the calendar year 2019 ends. In addition, we are planning to open 100 outlets within the next three years,” said Kabir Jeet Singh, CEO, Burger Singh.

The Gurugram-based company is on the lookout for a chief operating officer and a chief financial officer, positions that it wants to fill in the next six months.

“We plan to hire resources across all profiles, for delivery and outlets, pan-India and for the corporate office,” said Singh.

Besides, the company is close to zeroing in on a banker for the next round of fundraising. “We are looking at raising Rs 50 crore. This would be a round in between a Series A and B,” said Singh.

Earlier, the company raised over $4 million (about Rs 28 crore) in two rounds of pre-seed funding and series A funding from both strategic and angel investors.

Known for selling burgers with Indian flavours, Burger Singh intends to stick to the delivery or takeaway model.

“We are known for Indianising the burger. We want to cater to an Indian audience and that means providing great taste, value for money and loads of options for vegetarians,” said Singh. The company is likely to break even by March, he said.
