Homegrown FMCG Company Dabur has proposed to pump in Rs 500 crore for setting up a manufacturing facility in Smart Industrial Park (SIP) at Pithampur. The company has proposed an employment of 1,000 in phases.
Dabur has bought 13.5 hectare in Smart Industrial Park and plans a facility to make chawanprash and other food products, according to Madhya Pradesh Industry Development Corporation (MPIDC). This will be the second facility of Dabur in the region after a plant in sector 3 of Pithampur.
An official from MPIDC, Indore region wishing anonymity said, “Dabur has bought land and deposited part payment to the state government. The company will manufacture food products in region and pump in investment in phases as per the development of the facility.”
Two other companies, Adroit Driveshafts Pvt Ltd and H & H Healthcare and Cosmetics Pvt Ltd have also purchased land in SIP in past a fortnight to set up manufacturing units.
Adroit Driveshafts Pvt Ltd is an auto ancillary unit coming up in collaboration between Indore based unit and a German company, according to the industry department.
SIP, an unique selling proposition of the industry department, had 92 plots of which 67 plots have been booked so far by various industries. The industry department is eyeing some fresh investments in SIP from automobile, food processing and pharmaceutical firms.
The official from MPIDC, Indore said, “A few automobile and food processing companies have visited the region and are in talks with the department to set up a facility in SIP. The area is well developed and provides a well-equipped ecosystem to industries.”
MPIDC, Indore region had earned a whooping Rs 250 crore, highest in past five years, from premium and development cost charged on fresh land allotments in FY 2019/20 by allotting land to 89 industries.
