Mother Dairy has launched a new cow milk variant in Delhi at Rs 40 per litre. The company said it plans to soon launch the product in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai.
“There is a great demand for cow milk…we are currently supplying 50,000-60,000 litres of cow milk per day in Delhi and would like to scale it to 1 lakh litres in the next 10-15 days,” said Sandeep Ghosh, business head for milk at Mother Dairy.
Ghosh said the new cow milk, which is light, digestive and nutritious, will be aimed at children aged 1 to 7 years. He said the milk is hygienic, homogenized, contains optimum fat (4% fat and 8.5% solid not fat) and is packaged after several quality checks.
Ghosh said though the milk market is volatile, the company has no immediate plan to increase prices of its products. “The farmer prices have firmed up, we are also paying higher than what we were paying three months back, but we are in a position to absorb and not pass the burden to the consumer,” he said.
